To help our customers meet their green goals, we’ve minimised the use of virgin materials in the production process. Ergo Sustain features:

• Less than 40% virgin material
• An impressive 60.4% recycled material, to positively impact the environment, without negatively impacting quality. 
• BIO-PUR Sustainable Crib 5 foam, an eco-friendly foam that reduces the carbon footprint of the chair by 75%.
• Free from Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS).

All components of the Ergo Sustain chair can be broken down and recycled. Its breathable mesh not only enhances comfort but also requires fewer resources to produce. At Ergonomic Chairs Direct, we’ve steadily increased the proportion of recycled and recyclable materials in all of our products. We are continually exploring ways of using more renewable resources as well as materials that require less energy to produce and process.

The Ergo Sustain’s simplified design with fewer parts makes it easier to disassemble and recycle or reuse at the end of its life.

How we make our chairs has an impact on the environment – we want that to be a positive impact. That’s why we’ve invested in advanced equipment and efficient processes that reduce both energy and material usage. We collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure sustainability goals are built into the next generation of manufacturing.

The Ergo Sustain minimises its impact on the environment by using only 8 component parts, designed for re manufacture. Fewer parts speed up manufacture, reducing our emission output when building chairs. This approach makes it not only efficient to manufacture but also easier to repair, reuse and remanufacture – making it an ideal eco-friendly office chair for the modern workplace.

Designed for the Circular Economy

As we all look to move toward a more circular economy, the Ergo Sustain’s smart manufacturing technology allows for the chair to be remanufactured to prolong its lifespan:

• Utilising a clip-on seat pad with zero adhesives, we are able to reuse seat components for second lives. 
• We can easily separate the backrest, mechanism, armrest and base components for replacement or for recycling in a much more sustainable way than on a standard task chair.

Next Life: Reuse and Repurpose

Full lifecycle planning is embedded in our product development process, which means our eco-friendly ergonomic office chairs are built to be reused and repurposed.

Our chairs come in different sizes; they can be personalised to your specific requirements and adjusted to fit a wide range of body types, so if users move on, the chairs can be reused by others. 

And when your chairs eventually reach end-of-life, we have partners in the Environmental Partnership Program who can take back old chairs to resell or recycle. This makes it very easy to deal with seating no longer required.
